Training
One of the key activities of the Centre for Responsible Union AI is building union staff skills in AI.
We have already trained over 150 union staff in AI fundamentals, and held one-off courses for a number of unions to help them understand how and where to use AI effectively within their work.
Responsible AI Fundamentals for union staff
Our AI fundamentals courses offer union staff with an understanding of AI, along with a practical understanding of how to use generative AI effectively.
Applying Responsible AI for union teams
These advanced courses offer staff in particular union teams a more in-depth experience of AI for them and their area. They cover special considerations in using AI responsibly within their area, introduce specialist tools and ways of using AI for common tasks and look at the opportunities and challenges of automating particular common workflows.

Responsible AI for managers and leaders
Many union staff are already experimenting with generative AI. But managing union teams on an AI journey isn’t easy. AI may present an opportunity for unions to innovate, increase their impact, expand their reach, and better serve members. But AI use also creates risks – ethical risks, reputational risks, risks to organisational effectiveness. This course will help union managers and leaders to tackle the complex questions around how to handle these risks, and how they might use responsible AI to increase their impact.
